Spencer Marston Billiards Co. has been a prominent name in the billiards industry since its inception in 2004. Founded by Kimball Spencer Thomas and Davis Marston Smith (pictured), the company’s name symbolizes their personal and professional commitment to excellence, authenticity, and integrity—values that have shaped both the company and its products. Inspired by visionaries like Henry Ford and Walt Disney, who transformed their industries with bold innovation, Thomas and Smith set out to redefine the billiards world with exceptional products and a legacy built on trust.

In its early years, Spencer Marston quickly gained recognition for its premium billiards products. By 2011, 15,000 Spencer Marston tables were in use nationwide, making it one of the largest pool table brands in the country. That same year, the business was sold, marking a new chapter in its evolution.

A significant milestone occurred in August 2021 when co-founder Davis Smith—also the founder of the outdoor apparel brand Cotopaxi—reacquired Spencer Marston. His motivation was to integrate social impact initiatives into the company's core operations and to convert it into a benefit corporation (Corporate Wire).

Under Davis Smith's renewed leadership, Spencer Marston has continued to thrive, emphasizing sustainability, direct-to-consumer sales, and exceptional craftsmanship that exceeds Billiard Congress of America standards. In March 2023, the company set an industry standard by launching two new pool tables that are fully FSC® certified, demonstrating a commitment to environmental responsibility (Utah Business).
